Dear Tom,

Welcome, and thank you for using CADVANCE!

If you are referring to paper drawings, there is a product called Scan2CAD that will take a scanned image and convert the raster image to vector format which you could then bring into CADVANCE for editing.  Go to the Scan2CAD page to download a demo and give it a try!  Or contact me with any other questions or for more information.

information. Any recommended books or sites?  I'm also wondering if there is
a way to convert existing drawings which would need to be scanned into
cadvance lite 99. /thanks

Yes, the new version of CADVANCE or CADVANCE LiTe will be able to open drawing files created in v6.5, and there shouldn't be any problems with your symbols.  I've received your direct email earlier and will be sending you your evaluation CD shortly.  Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

Dear Sirs, Earlier today 3/30/00 I e-mailed you some conserns
about associative dimensioning. I just noticed something else tha i can not
do. Many times when I get done with a set of plans, my customers/contractors
like to have the plans scale down to fit on 8.5"x 11"paper. When I do this
with assoc dim it really screws up the dimensioning. Thank you, Richard

Dear Sirs, We had a user group mtg in St.Paul, Mn last
night(3/29/00). At the mtg I asked about associative dimensioning and
desided to use it. But when I started using it I remembered why I don't use
it. Commercial dimensioning is from surface of wall to surface of wall,
which assoc dim works fine, but residential dimensioning is from outside of
exterior of house walls to center line of interior house walls, which assoc
dim does not do, I would like to use this Cadvance opt, but need you to
allow me to doo the following. Can you let me know if it is possible. 1. I
would like to be able to adjust/move dimension lines after the line has been
layed out, without having to redimension my plans.      2. I would like to
be able to move the text, not edit the text, just be able to move text.
3. I would like to place a dimension point somewhere other than a vertex.
such as centerline of walls. To accomplish this I offset the dimension point
from a line.                      Thank you, Richard Krebs

I posted on the other forum.  Any Ideas w/ this?

It's been awhile.
I want to have the following macro. Purpose is to idiot proof (wesley proof)
my extend line. I want Snap turned "off" then run the
macro.

'$INCLUDE 'cdi_incl.cbh'
sub main
dim int1 as integer
dim int2 as integer
i_ret = cdisetsnapmode (CDI_NOSNAP)
i_ret = CdiMenuEntry (IDM_ALTER_EXTEND,int1,int2)
Call CdiPutMsg( "Select object(s) for editing...")
end sub

Problem is... With a menu entry for "Alter/Extend Segment" I extend my line.
Then hit button 2 and the command will let me pick
another line to extend to OR button 2 again and I'm out of the command.

Above macro requires (3) three clicks to end the extend segment. 1st button
2 waits for me to pick another line to extend to. 2nd
button 2 does the same thing (or nothing at all) 3rd button 2 and I'm out of
the command.

Make any sense. Try running the above and count how many clicks it takes to
end the "extend segment command"

Thanks,
Wesley

Dear Chadd

CADVANCE cannot print to a printer with a pathname longer than 32
characters.  I can't tell for sure the length of yours.  I'll research this
further.

Has anyone seen any problems printing directly to printers using a
jet direct card or port in the 16bit versions of Cadvance?  Like if you have
a printer printing to port "\\HP_Network_printers\205.36.10.5"???  I have an install where you print to the printer and it doesn't give any errors, but
nothing is ever sent to the queue or the printer.  Any help would be great.

Hi Wesley,

Regarding your post "when using AutoSnap and your Font 0 set to BoldSim" - We are now aware of the problem and will have a resolution available for it in v2000.

Thank you for your patience

Shari,
I will be taking a display booth at Multi-Housing World
(Take a look at www.mhw.com) in Vegas on the 15th of March. The display work I did for Legacy 99 will be shown in my booth. On the art work is the logo of Cadvance, since Cadvance participated on the Legacy project.
Also The road side art work should be up this week. This is on Oak Lawn
Ave in Dallas. On the art work the Cadvance Logo will be displayed.
Thanks for your help on the Legacy project.

TO Keith : yes you can make "blueprints", if you mean big size
printed output. Some graphic & blueprint shops offer plot service. Ask them
what plotter they have, if they can give you a driver disk for windows, or
if you can download the driver from the internet, you can give them a disk
that you can create with your drawing on it.

To do that, install your driver in windows, within cadvance, select it as
printer, specify your scale and sheet size. Specify plot to file. Copy the
file to a floppy or Cd-R. That should do it.

I want to plan an addition to my home using CADVANCE.  I then want to convert the design to a blueprint so I can get a building permit.

Basic Question:
 1.  Can I use CADVANCE to design an addition and eventually create blue
prints?
 2.  If so, is there some instructional material/tutorial that describes the process from start to finish?
 Thanks,
 Keith
