Joe, Thanks for the counsel. I tried your method using PhotoShop 7 but couldn't figure out how to do this part: "Before saving, we typically change the file to a "bitmat," 1-bit black and white. Thanks again, Jeff |

Hey Jeff, I've been away for a while, am just catching up, and saw your message. I've often wished that images could embed in VWF files rather than being linked, but I don't think that's possible right now. Here are a few things we've noticed about TIFF files. 1 - The TIFF file format shows up on the opne dialog box's format menu twice. Why, I don't know, the buth choosing the bottom listed option has always worked better for us. That said, I think it is a bit fussier and forces some contraints. 2 - We alsways save TIFF files from Photoshop using LZW compression and PC bit order. Before saving, we typically change the file to a "bitmat," 1-bit black and white, the foreground being black and the background being white. 3 - We've noted that Cadvance often displays garbage around the edges of an image if we're not careful making the pixel dimensions in Photoshop evenly divisible by 8. This is obviously a Cadvance bug. 4 - Another Cadvance bug - We've sucessfully worked with TIFF files for years generated by Photoshop 7. Some of us have tried upgrading to Photoshop CS, but Cadvance won't work with those files. We always have to opwn them and save them from Photoshop 7. I've reported this to Takashi in the past. 5 - This will sound odd, but we get better print quality when we print a 24x36 page on our Kyocera plotter 36" long on 24" roll paper rather than 24" long on 36" roll paper. Very strange. I hope that is at least somewhat helpfull. |

Maybe we're doing something wrong or don't know the secret trick but we frequently have problems with images in Cadvance drawings. Cadvance drawings lose images that are in the drawing, white background print gray, etc. #1. Is there a way to insert an image so that it is actually in the drawing and not linked? I think that may be why tend to lose images that were in drawings (even though the path of the image didn't change?. Our typicical method for images in CAD files is to put the image file (usually a TIF) in the same folder as the CAD file then go to the CAD file and File-Open and change the file type to TIF. #2 I've got a logo that I need to insert into some drawings. In Photoshop the TIF has a transparent background. In Cadvance the TIF has a white background. When I print it, the TIF has gray in the background. I am hoping somebody can advise me on a better way. Thank you. |
