I've done some testing. I have a dual boot system Vista + XP, but I quit using Vista for some time, because I cannot invest time in keeping two platforms up to date and booting between them all the time.

So I booted Vista and tested Cadvance V12, no such thing as a disappearing line on the status bar, whatever windowing I tried, using 1920x1200 ot 1064x768 reslotions. The status bar would kind of fold up in smaller windows, but it never disappeared, nor did a row get lost.

I then updated Vista with the 34 upgrades Microsoft has produced since I last booted Vista, and tried again.

Now the status bar stays, but when using full screen mode, I have only one line of the status bar. In fact, the two lines are there, but side by side, not on top on one another.

So maybe you have a wide virtual desktop, and the second line is simply to the right (where you may no longer see it) ?

Obviously Microsoft has changed something to the window behaviour (for the better in my case, since I see all the status bar on a single line, and no longer require two lines on top of each other). But in your case, I suppose someting triggers Vista in believing you can display the two lines side by side, when in fact you can't.

I've no solution however for you.

What I also see from time to time, is that maximizing the cadvance window does not always refresh the cadvance drawing area and scroll bars. Using F5 redraw is sometimes necessary to get cadvance to display correctly.

Because I know someone will ask, the screen resolution on the question below is 1024x768

I recently installed V12 on a Vista machine and the 2nd row of the status bar is not showing up. I've maximized Cadvance and hid the Vista task bar and still no luck. When I reduce the Cadvance screen and drag the window larger it still doesn't show up. It acts like it is not there as opposed to being off the screen. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Mr. Michael Ortega kindly sent me the following email, which will help other users who recently started using Vista and CADVANCE.
We are in the middle of selecting PC toward Vista PC purchase for further testing CADVANCE.
We appreciate it if you can post your findings on Vista and CADVANCE.

Mr. Furukawa,

I thought I would send you a note reflecting the CVLT V12 install on Windows Vista Home Premium.

The User Account Control on Windows Vista has to be disabled in order to fully authorize CVLT V12 and make modifications to the INI’s.

Best,

Michael Ortega

The reason why the Users Account Control in Vista has to be set Disabled is because CADVANCE updates Windows registry with the authorization code in the CADVANCE V12 registry when authorized. We will find a way to update the registry from CADVANCE programming in the next release just like it has been done in previous Windows.

I would love to see VBS, Active-X and .NET Framework application development support in Cadvance.

Is it time to start asking if Cadvance 12 (or older, or upcoming versions) are Vista compatible? 32 and/or 64 bit?

Heck, while I'm asking, I'll throw in my semi-annual request for OS-X compatibility. Cadvance is the only thing keeping us in Windows; I think Microsoft owes you some money Takashi.
